Employment Ad Title: Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Post Date: 12/09/11 Contact: Robert Burg Phone (W): (916) 630-4900 Description: Chief Juvenile Probation Officer with the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County. The ideal candidate for this position must have outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal qualities that will bring strength, stability, and credibility to the position and programs, as well as contributing strong management to the Department staff and fiscal accountability for overall operations with approximately 700 full-time employees and operating budget of more than $59 million. The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker and creative problem solver, able to contribute to the range of evidence-based juvenile, preventative, and restorative justice models incorporated by the Department. The annual salary range for this position is up to $156,249 and includes the use of a County vehicle and a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications: Education – A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a behavioral science, social work, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field is required. An advanced degree in the behavioral or social science disciplines, public administration, or a related field is preferred.
Experience – At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience working in the juvenile justice system, which could include probation, corrections, or family programs; or executive or senior level experience in public or private sector administration, criminal justice, public safety, or project management.
This high-level administrative position requires demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, project management, executive leadership, communication, and organizational skills. The selected candidate must have a proven and verifiable track record of success as a manager in a large, diverse organization similar to this organization.
